You definitely won’t recognize Courteney Cox in this role, which she is still embarrassed about

The whole world recognized Courteney Cox thanks to the role of Monica Geller in the cult TV series Friends. But before that, the aspiring actress was forced to be content with modest episodic roles. We will tell you about one such today.

You may have already seen the archival commercial for tampons from 1985, starring Courteney Cox, which went viral on the web a long time ago. But did you know that this role was not the first for Courtney?

In 1984, the actress starred in Bruce Springsteen’s music video for the song Dancing In The Dark. Cox got the role of a fan of the singer, whom he eventually invites to dance with him on stage during a performance.

The actress still recalls the audition with embarrassment. Courtney was then only 20 years old and surrounded by celebrities, she felt awkward (and the video was directed by Brian De Palma himself, who had already directed Scarface and Carrie).

At the casting, she had to dance, and she could hardly move – a real nightmare!

Bruce Springsteen is incredible. I like this song. But I still get a little confused when I watch videos. Just look at my dance! It was a pity. I dance well, but it was terrible. I was so nervous. I felt out of my element. I couldn’t even bend my leg!” Cox recalled her torment.

Ironically, it was this uncertainty of the actress that fascinated the director – he realized that Courtney would ideally embody the image of a fan who had a chance to dance with an idol.
