With yet another awakened outburst, Snow White actor Rachel Zegler destroys the remake’s advertising campaign

Star of the Snow White remake Rachel Zegler has stirred up controversy once more while promoting the long-awaited Disney picture.

Though branding experts warned that such actions may prompt a boycott, the 23-year-old, who has regularly sparked anger with her woke views, got into the Israel-Palestine conflict on X while promoting the blockbuster movie.

Two days after sharing the video on X, the New Jersey native replied to one of her own posts on the platform, stating, “And always remember, free Palestine.” Zegler plays the title princess in the teaser video, along with the contentious CGI Seven Dwarfs and 39-year-old Israeli actress Gal Gadot as the legendary Evil Queen.

Marc Webb’s $330 million Disney film was originally slated for release in March 2024, but it was postponed after officials had to hold “crisis talks” to address major damage limitation in the wake of Zegler’s positions receiving bad feedback. Since then, a variety of CGI dwarfs that more closely resemble the tiny characters in the first film have taken the place of the original cast.

The actress faced criticism after multiple footage of her criticizing the original movie in different interviews in 2022 appeared online. She has now pledged to make sure the remake was more progressive than the original version.

“She’s not going to be saved by the prince and she’s not going to be dreaming about true love,” Zegler remarked in reference to her role.
She was called a “fake feminist,” accused of “gaslighting” by some critics, and Disney “needs to be careful with how they have portrayed Snow White,” according to a marketing consultant.

“Whilst it’s been clear that the original Disney Princess films hold old values,” branding expert Carla Speight told DailyMail.com, “Disney have fallen for the trap of going to the opposite extreme to inflict strong and loaded messaging on the viewers – believing that’s empowerment.”

Disney performers used to be media schooled, sensitive to the impact of their words, and mindful of the movie’ core messages. However, it appears that with this complete reimagining of Snow White, the idea of her as a “boss girl” has gone to the heads of their stars.

Moving ahead, Disney will have to exercise caution in how they present Snow White and what its performers say and don’t say about it.
“They just can’t keep making the same mistakes and let their actors speak so freely about themselves during promotional events,” Speight continued.

PR guru Nick Ede concurred with Speight, telling DailyMail.com that Zegler “has actively chosen to spoil the narrative” rather than “embracing her role” as one of the most well-known fairytale characters.”

Known for her breakthrough performance in “West Side Story,” Zegler made the following statement when speaking at the Disney D23 Expo in September 2022 in California: “The original cartoon came out in 1937, and very evidently so.” Her romantic relationship with a man who practically pursues her is the center of attention. Strange! Strange! So, this time, we didn’t do it.

“Our telling of the tale features a young lady who serves a purpose beyond hoping that Someday My Prince Will Come.”

After being cast as Snow White, the Colombian-American actress came under some criticism because Snow White has always been characterized as having “skin as white as snow.” She stated, “Yes, I am Snow White; no, I am not bleaching my skin for the role,” in a since-deleted tweet.

In addition to Zegler’s controversial remarks, the seven dwarfs in the remake incited criticism of their own. When DailyMail.com disclosed that the dwarfs were going to be swapped out for seven “magical (non-dwarf) creatures” in an attempt to maintain the narrative in accordance with the 21st century’s insistence on political correctness, the movie attracted bad press.

Originally spotted on the filming set, they were a mixed group of men and women from various ethnic backgrounds, one of them was a real dwarf. Disney later withdrew its initial denial that these photos were taken on the movie set.

The CGI figures in the teaser took the place of the actual dwarfs and joined Zegler in song and dancing. Snow White is followed in Disney’s 1937 adaptation as she makes friends with the seven dwarfs and hides from her evil stepmother, who poisons her with an apple before Prince Charming kisses her awake. The Brothers Grimm’s 1812 fairytale of the same name served as a loose inspiration for the storyline.

When it was first released, it was a huge smash for Disney, bringing in hundreds of millions of dollars worldwide. Disney’s first animated feature, it was also the first full-length traditionally animated feature film. The upcoming Snow White adaption is scheduled for release in March 2025.
