Taylor Swift’s new Midnights bodysuit from the Eras Tour may be hinting at a big announcement
In August 2023, Swift debuted ‘1989 (Taylor’s Version)’ the day before and donned a fresh ensemble appropriate for the ‘Midnights’ era.
With her most recent Eras Tour attire, Taylor Swift—who is described as “cryptic and Machiavellian” because she cares—may be teasing an upcoming announcement.
The 34-year-old “Mastermind” singer made a splash in a bodysuit on Friday, August 16, during her Midnights segment in London. If history is any guide, she may be unveiling at her event on August 17 the release date of her next re-recorded album, which is maybe Reputation (Taylor’s Version).
The new bodysuit is similar to the one she wore the day before she revealed 1989 (Taylor’s Version) in August 2023. It has stars and a small moon on it.
In October 2023, she finally released the re-recording of 1989 along with bonus vault material.
In order to capitalize on the snake motif and eerie “Look What You Made Me Do” video from the original 2017 release, Swift may announce Reputation (Taylor’s Version) onstage on Saturday and then release it two months later, ahead of Halloween, if this timeline trend holds true this year.
At her last U.S. stop last year, the announcement was made for August 9, 2023. On August 17, August 19, or August 20, she may make one of her three final visits in Europe in London, where this possible message could be delivered.
Taylor Swift has recorded five more times, with Reputation (Taylor’s Version) being the fifth after 1989 in 2023, Speak Now in July 2023, Red in November 2021, and Fearless in April 2021.
The 14-time Grammy winner’s Taylor’s Version campaign aims to retrieve her back catalog after Scooter Braun purchased her recordings from her previous company, Big Machine, in 2019 against her will.
In August 2019, Swift declared that she would be re-recording her albums. She expressed her belief that artists should be the owners of their creations to Robin Roberts of Good Morning America. “I simply have strong feelings about that.”
Swift talked about going back to her Reputation period in December’s TIME Person of the Year issue, calling the upcoming book “a goth-punk moment of female rage at being gaslit by an entire social structure.”
Swift continued, stating that the vault tracks will be “fire” and that re-releasing her albums is like “collecting horcruxes” or “collecting infinity stones,” alluding to the Harry Potter and Marvel films. “I think a lot of people see it and they’re just like, sick snakes and strobe lights,” Swift added.
She looped Lord of the Rings into the mix and remarked, “Every time I put out a new one, I can’t help but hear Gandalf’s voice.” “It’s a movie now, in my opinion.”
