RARE family photo: Kevin Costner hugs his 17-year-old son Cayden
After arriving back in the US on Monday, Kevin Costner was spotted on a rare public outing with one of his teenage children.
After they had lunch together, the 69-year-old Horizon star was seen in Summerland, California, leaning in to give his 17-year-old son Cayden a warm embrace.
After dining at the Summerland Beach Cafe in Santa Barbara County, the father-son team was spotted making their way into the parking lot. The huge estate where Kevin lives with his younger children—his 14-year-old daughter Grace and 15-year-old son Hayes—is not too far away.
Following the release of pictures he had posted online earlier this month of himself lounging on a yacht off the coast of Italy, the filmmaker and actor from Yellowstone had returned to California.
The actor, who has a “crushing” divorce battle with his ex-girlfriend Christine Baumgartner since her filed in May 2023, shares Cayden and his two other youngest children with her. The filmmaker’s most recent Western epic was a box office disaster.
Kevin was wearing clothes reminiscent of his sailing days, with his tanned legs emphasized by a pair of beige shorts.
The lead actor wore it with flip-flops and black sunglasses, as well as a summery white dress shirt with sleeves pushed halfway up his forearms.
Cayden liked to dress more flamboyantly, wearing loose-fitting pants, a button-up black shirt with short sleeves, and a bandana covered in camouflage over his hair.He stood out in a sporty pair of orange sunglasses that offered a pop of color.
Kevin and Cayden extended an embrace before parting ways as they were ready to part.Kevin was spotted grinning earlier this month in pictures he uploaded to Instagram of himself taken casually on the deck of a ship owned by the Italian firm Pardo Yachts.

Each of the ex-partners requested shared custody of their three kids. In the end, Christine received a child support award of $63,209 per month—much less than the $165,000 per month she had originally sought.
In addition, Costner welcomed Joe, 36, Lily, 36, and Annie, 40, with his ex-wife, Cindy Silva. He and his former partner Bridget Rooney also have a 26-year-old son named Liam.
After the first film in his Horizon series debuted earlier this summer, the director completed the second, despite the distributor New Line Cinema removed the picture’s release date from their schedule after Chapter 1 failed to recoup its $50 million budget.
According to reports, Costner started principal photography on the third installment of the series in May of this year. A fourth and final movie is supposedly already in development, however its future may depend on how well-received the previous sequels were commercially.
