Netflix Announces Long-Awaited Show Reboot
The original cast members of One Tree Hill, Sophia Bush and Hilarie Burton, will be reprising their roles in the official Netflix sequel.
The 42-year-old Good Sam actress, who recently debuted classic throwback show attire, will reprise her role as Brooke Davis, and 42-year-old Burton will reprise his role as Peyton Sawyer.
According to Variety, Danneel Ackles, who played Rachel Gatina in the original series, will executive produce the revival through Chaos Machine, the production business she and her husband Jensen Ackles founded.

She is also in talks to potentially return to the part, although it is unknown if other members of the original cast, such James Lafferty and Chad Michael Murray, would make an appearance in the follow-up.
The One Tree Hill sequel will have Sophia and Hilarie as executive producers as well. The revival is still in the early phases of production, and no official release date has been announced.
According to Deadline, the plot “takes place 20 years later following best friends Brooke and Peyton who are now parents to teens and facing challenges not unfamiliar with what they tackled in the original series like love, insecurities, and grief.”

Mark Schwahn, the original series’ showrunner, is said to be unattached to the revival. In 2017, Audrey Wauchope, one of the show’s writers, accused Schwahn of emotional and sexual assault.
Bethany, Hilarie, and Sophia Along with other actresses, female writers, and members of the crew who had worked on One Tree Hill, Joy Lenz backed Audrey’s assertions.
Bush stated in 2021 that he has pictures of the female cast members in their panties hanging in his office. Bush appears to have announced the Netflix series’ return on her main Instagram profile on Friday.
The actress, who came out as gay in April of this year, posted a picture of herself grinning broadly with Burton, Ackles, and Bevin Prince, who portrayed the recurrent character Bevin Mirskey.

Sophia texted her followers, asking, “What if you could actually return home?” If there’s a chance to collaborate with creative geniuses and create a venue where our friends may showcase their talents?
Own our past? Take back our territory? Respect our supporters? The actress continued in the caption, “Sign us up.” ‘There’s only one Tree Hill, after all,’ she said, acknowledging the show’s devotees. And we’ve seen from you, the #OTHfam, that it’s more than just an idea. “Everything’s better and everything’s safe” is indeed the case there.
Social media users immediately shared their opinions about the Netflix relaunch in the comment area. One wrote, “It’s amazing! One person said, “You’re going to heal the world with this,” while another said, “SO SO SO EXCITED FOR THE FUTURE.” I’m ecstatic!

“I’m crying and yelling.” One fan wrote, ‘This is the best news of the year!!!’ Another said, ‘My favorite show returning is EVERYTHING ❤️❤️❤️.’
Hilarie teased the relaunch by posting an identical photo and a caption on her personal Instagram page. A few other former cast members, including Chad Michael Murray, who portrayed Lucas Scott, have already expressed thoughts about a potential sequel.
The actor claimed that remake could “deal with all the trials and tribulations that the youth are going through today” earlier this year in May during an appearance on the Today show.
“Taking care of discrimination, social media, and everything else that exists in the world that we can make public.”
“I’m meeting fans who are 13, 14, and 15 years old who are enamored with the show,” the Gilmore Girls veteran continued. When we first started shooting, they weren’t alive. It’s mind-blowing. It’s a novel program for them.
Furthermore, he told E! News in December of last year that he “just can’t see a world where something won’t happen” in reference to a potential sequel.
“There will be an event.” I’m not sure what we’ll do—whether we gather everyone and perform a live reading of the show, or whether we write a brand-new, made-up episode for the future. Murray went on, “So many young people’s lives have been shaped and changed by this show.”
Given the current cultural changes and the issues that need to be resolved, it has a place. “I believe that a new generation of the show is needed to address the issues that people in today’s world face on a daily basis, including social media, racial injustice, the LGBT community, and everything else that’s out there.”
“So people can feel like they belong and that they are loved,” Chad continued. That is what we require.
One Tree Hill debuted on the WB in September 2003 and ran for nine seasons in total. In the end, the show moved to The CW to run its final seasons, which ran from 2006 to 2012. Moira Kelly, Paul Johansson, Barry Corbin, Bethany Joy Lenz, and other celebrities were cast in the original series.
The show marked its 20th anniversary in September of 2023 of last year, with a few cast members ringing in the historic occasion. Stars got back together on the original set later that year to commemorate the milestone as well.
