Maya Jama hits back at her ‘crazy’ fans

Maya Jama has responded to those who have accused her of moving on with her buddy after her recent breakup with Stormzy.

After initially parting ways in 2019 and getting back in touch in August of the same year, the Love Island presenter, 29, and the rapper, 30, verified their split is “final” in a statement released last week.

Just one week later, though, and Maya is compelled to correct the record and refute any claims that she has gone on the “rebound” with her friend Chunkz.

She and YouTuber Chunkz, 28, shared pictures from a new Google Gemini advertisement campaign on Instagram over the weekend.

Maya has been friends with the internet celebrity for a while, Amin Mohamed, who is rumored to have recently tied the knot.

Maya shared numerous behind-the-scenes pictures from the app’s promotional campaign, in which she was seen folding a bouquet of flowers and giggling with Chunkz.

However, a few of her fans appeared to misunderstand her and questioned whether or not the couple was dating in the comments section.

“Chunkz finally getting his chance?” they wrote. I’m sure Chunkz is ecstatic right now. Come on, Chunkz. This is the right moment for you.

“My partner Chunkz consistently shows up following a breakup or split; chunks saw Stormzy’s story and thought, ‘This is my chance.'”

Maya retaliated, however, answering a comment that said: “It seems like she’s just using Chunkz as a celebrity rebound.”

“We are friends who filmed an advert together.. are you lot insane?” she shot back, emoji-ing a sobbing chuckle.

A number of her admirers defended her as well, writing: “People are ignoring the fact that Chunkz already has a girlfriend in his life.” The vibe check is not passed by the comments section.

God, these remarks remind me that men and women can be friends. I believe that we should all keep our distance from them and pay attention to their request that we respect their privacy and give them space.

After a five-year romance that ended in 2019, Maya and Stormzy announced in a joint Instagram message last week that they had “recently decided to call it quits.”

The ITV2 star and the BRIT Award winner parted ways, according to MailOnline, after differences about when to be married.

Stormzy was more of a homebody than the other, and sources told MailOnline that this caused problems in the couple’s lifestyles.

As for Maya, she is currently concentrating on her work. She is a sought-after model for Rimmel London, the face of luxury fashion brand Dolce & Gabbana, and the streaming behemoth Netflix.

“Maya and Stormzy are very much on different pages when it comes to their future,” a source close to the duo disclosed.

Whereas Maya is content with her profession, driven, and eager to accomplish everything she can, Stormzy was eager to settle down.

“At just 29, she’s not ready for the next chapter just yet. She loves to travel and party.”

‘We’ve been smiling whilst typing this since we never, ever, in a million years thought we’d be the pair announcing a breakup,’ the couple said in their statement. However, we felt that it might be best to for the purpose of clarity and, more significantly, to give us the space and grace that we both need to be able to traverse this next chapter of our lives with serenity.

“We fell deeply in love in 2014, called it quits in 2019, and then managed to live apart for five years.”We’ve been trying our hardest to make it work for the past year, but we’ve decided to call it quits. We had planned to try one last time in August 2023.

Stormzy and Maya attended Wimbledon separately earlier this month. On Thursday, the rapper went alone to evian’s Mountain of Youth VIP suite, while Maya partied till the wee hours of the morning at the famous Chiltern Firehouse.

The last time they were spotted together was at Stormzy’s headline performance at the F1 Grand Prix at Silverstone on July 5.

Before Maya took a helicopter to the ITV studios to host the live Sunday evening version of Love Island spin-off show Aftersun, the couple had also attended the Glastonbury festival last month.

Stormzy co-founded House Party, a pub in Soho, London, which he opened a few weeks ago. The club has been styled to resemble an old-school house party both inside and out.

On June 6, during the couple’s star-studded launch night, which included Louise Redknapp and Julie Adenuga, Maya posted video footage on her Instagram account.

The year Stormzy began dating Maya coincided with the release of his debut EP, Dreamers Disease. The couple describes this year as the year they “fell madly in love.”

They recounted their love journey and detailed the five years they spent juggling different lives in their statement.

Maya was engaged to American basketball player Ben Simmons during that time, but their eight-month engagement ended.

In 2019, Maya and Stormzy separated for the first time due to rumors that the rapper had cheated on them. Stormzy later came clean in the song Lessons, saying, “I done the dirt and then I figured that you’ll dig it out.”
