Keanu Reeves admits it made him cry
After reading his new book for the first time, Keanu Reeves recalls “crying,” and he later acknowledged that he “didn’t write any.”
For The Book of Elsewhere, which draws inspiration from his own BRZRKR comic series, the 59-year-old actor collaborated with British author of “weird fiction,” China Miéville.
Keanu gave an explanation for his decision to allow his partner write the piece, saying he became emotional when his favorite writer gave him a copy.
“I didn’t want to write the book,” he stated in an interview with The Guardian newspaper. I wanted that journey to be taken by another creator. In the end, the novel was written in China. I did not write any portion of the book.
The story of an eternal warrior who spends millennia attempting to comprehend his own immortality is told in the book, which was published on July 23.
The two met in person for the first time in Berlin in 2021. Over the course of several Zoom meetings, they worked through China’s first manuscript, with the author acknowledging that it took him some time to understand Keanu’s concepts.

However, Keanu was eventually rather pleased with the outcome.
“I’m reading a ‘BRZRKR’ China Miéville novel!” he screamed. Yes, indeed! What is it that you need to know? After that, I wonder why I’m crying. Why am I feeling this strongly?”
“So what is that, then? Next, though? Hold on, I have to ask you what that f******word is. Yes, that’s right. Fantastic.”
Keanu’s comic book, written by Matt Kindt and illustrated by Ron Garney, was originally released in 2021.
China’s works, which range from American western to detective noir, have been characterized as “new weird fiction” due to the variety of genres they cover.
His ‘strange fiction’ style fits in nicely with the actor’s comic book persona, which revolves around Berzerker, an immortal god-man hybrid whose violent tendencies threaten his sanity.
In the end, the character finds himself working with the US government to uncover the truth about his past. There are plans to develop BRZRKR into a live-action Netflix series.
Keanu is set to star in a live-action movie that Netflix is producing based on the comic book, which was revealed in 2021.

As ‘an analysis of’ violence, Keanu has previously called his comic book series BRZRKR, which examines how violence is employed and managed.
Reeves stated to People in 2021, “We are looking at violence in the impulse of violence and how it’s used, and how it tries to be controlled.” We may not be able to relate to the character’s desire to be immortal, but we can relate to the notion of wanting to be immortal, therefore we’re attempting to understand it.
People ‘can identify to the idea of the imagination of’ immortality,’ the A-list actor told the publication, which drives the plot of BRZRKR.
We have vampire tales that discuss it, he remarked. “Yet whether it’s the human wish-fulfillment that we don’t have mortality or the living condition of our mortality, that’s part of the human condition.”

Within the ever-present environment of violence, it’s about food, it’s about conquest, and it’s about survival. It therefore plays everywhere, and we’re attempting to view it from many angles. It’s an analysis of it.
Kindt claimed that throughout the coronavirus epidemic, he, Reeves, and Kindt worked on the project for “at least two years,” most of which was done remotely.
When an endearing video of Keanu meeting a nine-year-old super fan at a comic book store went viral last year, the actor won over the hearts of the internet once more.
In March 2023, YouTuber Noah from Noah’s Amazing Reviews had the opportunity to meet his favorite star at a BRZRKR signing at Golden Apple Comics in Los Angeles.
The child was ecstatic to meet the actor, who thrilled him by giving a quick imitation of his Toy Story 4 role.
