Gracie Abrams describes Taylor Swift as “a safe place” and remarks that it “felt like we had known each other already” when they first met.
The singer, 24, opens out about her bond with Swift in a recent interview published on August 11 in “The Sunday Times.”
Gracie Abrams is disclosing details about her intimate friendship and mentorship with Taylor Swift.
The 24-year-old singer talked about their relationship both on and off stage in a recent interview, saying that it felt like she already knew the pop superstar when they first met before he opened for her on her Eras Tour.
“It felt like we already knew each other when I met [Swift], which I’m sure had something to do with the parasocial relationship thing,” Abrams said to the Sunday Times in the United Kingdom.
“Her voice has been in my headphones all my life as I’ve grown up.”
In an interview with the publication, Abrams said that mentor and friend Swift is “a safe place to land any time I’ve ever had any questions about anything.”
The “Risk” singer revealed that Swift offers excellent guidance on how to treat any back pain she may get from touring in addition to singing. Abrams claimed, “She suggested an acupressure mat that really turned things around for me.”
When Swift was on her Eras Tour in North America in April 2023, Abrams served as her opening act. However, Swift admitted to The Sunday Times that she “had absolutely zero expectation of being included in that capacity.”
Even after Abrams’s set was postponed owing to inclement weather, the two went on to share a stage performance in Cincinnati that year. Abrams collaborated with Swift once more in June for her London Eras Tour performance.
Speaking at the 2024 Grammy Awards in January, Abrams said that opening for Swift was an experience “beyond my wildest dreams.”
“Being a part of that tour in a tiny way has changed the course of my life in so many ways,” she stated. She is the friend with the most generosity and the most amazing performer. I do not deny that her faith in me has accomplished a great deal. Thus, I will always be incredibly grateful to her.”
Swift was also a contributing writer on Abrams’ song “Us,” which was taken from her second studio album The Secret of Us, which was published in June.
About the collaboration, Abrams posted in May on X (previously Twitter), saying, “Writing this song with you was some of the most fun I’ve ever had in my whole entire life.” Without a doubt. I can’t stop laughing and perspiring while thinking about it, and I will always be shocked to see this song on the playlist.
Even during Swift’s London Eras Tour gig on June 23, the two sang the song together during the concert’s surprise song segment.
For the tour’s last stop in North America in late 2024, Abrams will reunite with the “Cruel Summer” vocalist.
