Exclusive: Sadie Sink Admits ‘They Helped Me Come Out Of My Shell’
“A combination of basically everything that I’ve done in my career so far,” the actress remarked of the next movie.
Sadie Sink’s musician pals lend her a little assistance sometimes to get by!
On Thursday, August 8, at The Santa Monica Proper Hotel, Variety’s Power of Young Hollywood Celebration event, the actress, 22, talks exclusively to PEOPLE about her role as the lead in the upcoming rock opera O’Dessa.
“That’s kind of how I got into all of this,” Sink explains, describing how she “was trained in musical theater” at the beginning of her career. “But I haven’t really touched on that since I was younger.”
“So getting back into it, I definitely leaned on a lot of my closest friends who are in the music industry, and they helped me come out of my shell in that space a little bit more,” she says.
According to the Stranger Things actress: “I’m excited for everyone to see it because it’s a combination of basically everything that I’ve done in my career so far, and it’ll be exciting to share it.”
O’Dessa, according to IMDB, is “a farm girl in search to recover a cherished family heirloom” who “travels to a strange and dangerous city where she meets her one true love.” In order “to save his soul, she must put the power of destiny to the ultimate test.”
The film, which was written and directed by Geremy Jasper, stars Kelly Macdonald, Mark Boone Junior, Regina Hall, Murray Bartlett, and Kelvin Harrison Jr. in addition to Sink. Jasper and Jason Binnick wrote and produced the original music for the film.
Sink has been really busy lately. She is preparing for the release of A Sacrifice and filming the fifth and final season of Stranger Things.
Her role in the 2023 film The Whale has received her a nomination for the Critics’ Choice Movie Award’s best young performer category.
O’Dessa is expected to be available for purchase in 2024.
