Dua Lipa responds to the haters who mocked her dance routines

After taking home the prestigious Best Choreography prize for her music video Houdini at the MTV Video Music Awards, Dua Lipa has spoken out about the criticism she received for her dance routines.

During her Tuesday night appearance on The Project, host Sarah Harris didn’t hold back when discussing the singer’s victorious VMA win and bringing up the trolls on social media who had previously made fun of Dua’s dancing abilities.

“You won Best Choreography at the VMAs for your film clip Houdini, and you performed it on Saturday Night Live.””It must have felt like a big F-you to all those people on the internet who used to make fun of you for your dancing skills,” Harris said.

The 29-year-old replied with poise and maturity, acknowledging that although the internet criticism had hurt at first, she had moved past it.

“I try not to even think about that anymore because it seems like so much work has been done and so much time has passed since then,” smiled Dua.

“But receiving such a lovely award and feeling, in a sense, accomplished and confident,”When a video of her dancing on stage at a performance went viral back in 2017, admirers compared her to a pencil in a “pencil sharpener.”

The British-Albanian singer also gave some thought to her journey since she first encountered criticism early in her career.

“I’m really happy, even though it took me a little while to get there,” she said.”It feels amazing to me to be able to do a whole music video by myself and to have the confidence to do that.”

Dua’s smooth, solo dance routines in the Houdini music video have garnered a lot of attention for their captivating visuals and deft choreography, which is evidently a response to people who had previously questioned her dancing prowess. In addition to winning the VMAs, the pop sensation has been winning big. She has also released her much awaited third studio album and thrilled fans with performances on Saturday Night Live.

The Grammy winner recently disclosed that, although she never reached a point where she “couldn’t get out of bed,” reading cruel comments online was undoubtedly when her emotions felt the “most heightened.”

However, as Dua developed her career and identity, the British-Albanian singer stated that she experienced “a real kick” following the release of her 2019 single Don’t Start Now.

The Barbie actress didn’t hold back when she said that many people began to have second thoughts about her acting abilities after that, giving her the impression that she had finally disproved them.
