Authorities Are Inquiring About Charlie Sheen’s Ex-Break Mueller’s Past with Matthew Perry
The actress—Charlie Sheen’s ex-wife—met Perry twenty years ago and later got back in touch with him while undergoing treatment.
Sources tell PEOPLE that as part of the investigation into Matthew Perry’s death, Brooke Mueller was questioned about her past with him. The actress, who happens to be Charlie Sheen’s ex-wife, was not among the five individuals prosecuted for the Friends star’s lethal drug overdose that occurred last year.
On October 29, 2023, Perry, 54, was discovered dead in his pool. According to a medical examiner, the actor’s cause of death was “acute effects of ketamine.” According to the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, ketamine is an injectable anesthetic that “may induce a state of sedation (feeling calm and relaxed), immobility, relief from pain, and amnesia.”
According to Perry’s autopsy, he was receiving ketamine infusion therapy for depression at the time of his passing, though not to a degree that would be deemed lethal.
Mueller, 46, reportedly met Perry 20 years before to her 2008 marriage to Sheen, according to a source. In treatment a few years ago, they got back in touch.
According to a person with knowledge of the investigation, “Brooke Mueller was questioned in this case because she was friends with Matthew Perry but she never used ketamine.”Five people were charged earlier this week in relation to Perry’s demise.
Two physicians, a lady dubbed the “Ketamine Queen” who was accused of drug distribution and storage, and Perry’s live-in helper, who confirmed giving the actor multiple ketamine shots the day before he passed away, were among them. Later, the assistant found Perry’s lifeless body in the swimming pool.
“These defendants were more concerned with making money off of Mr. Perry than they were with his welfare,” U.S. Attorney Martin Estrada stated in a statement announcing the accusations on Thursday, August 15.
“Drug dealers who sell harmful substances are speculating with other people’s lives out of selfishness. This case makes it very evident that drug dealers will be held responsible for the deaths they cause, as will our numerous other prosecutions of drug dealers who cause fatalities.
The source continues, “What happened to Matthew is really tragic.” “I find it abhorrent that physicians can overprescribe any addictive substance to patients, particularly those who are addicts.”
The source did add that everyone must share some of the guilt.The source goes on, “Everyone wants to blame someone else, but the addict bought and took the drug.” “If you want or need drugs badly enough and can afford it, it’s easy to buy them anywhere in Los Angeles.”
The investigations into Perry’s death are still ongoing by the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Los Angeles Police Department, and the US Postal Inspection Service.
On August 19, the actor, who has been outspoken about his battles with addiction throughout the years, would have turned 55.
