After Kylie Jenner showed up at the Schiaparelli Haute Couture Spring/Summer 2023 show wearing a huge lion’s head affixed to her outfit, the internet is still reeling from the incident.
But what is the highlight of this instantly memorable event? Irina Shayk walked down the runway while Kylie was seated in the front row, wearing almost exactly the same ensemble.
Which was probably intended, but Twitter can’t handle it because Kylie’s face told a different tale.
Just so you know, despite being fake, Kylie and Irina’s lion head costumes sparked debate since some people claimed they glorified large game hunting.
But yesterday, PETA weighed in on the discussion with a statement that said the images “highlight the beauty of wild animals and may be a statement against trophy hunting, in which lions and wolves are torn apart to satisfy human egotism.”
Irina defended her outfit on Instagram as well, writing, “I applaud these great artists who worked diligently with their hands, using wool, silk, and foam, to construct this embroidered Lion, and picture of Pride, An image that @schiaparelli inspires while exploring ideas of strength. As a woman artist, I am honored to have been asked to contribute to this @danielroseberry project.
